I have been meaning to write about these crazy New Yorkers for almost a week now, but due to fever, constant headaches and spending almost all my time in bed made that quite hard for me. So now without further ado, let me help your hearts be stolen by some sneaky disco-thieves with style!
To describe Gentleman Thieves sound, I would like to say that they’ve been taking the best from those early days in the 70’s blending it with a modern sound. And with that combined, we get a really fresh sound with one foot in the disco-scene and the other in the electro-scene!
The thieves were kind to share some tracks for us to enjoy! Christy Dawn is in China modeling right now, in between the runway, the photo sessions and all the delicious chinese foods she makes these wonderful tracks for our listening pleasure. When she’s making her music she goes under the name Snowcone. I posted her ‘Circus’ remix and the track ‘Dusty Dream Dub’ a while back. Well now she sent us her latest track ‘Love Allegiance’ (I love it) and her wonderful remix of Lady Gagas ‘Just Dance’, best one I’ve heard. And I don’t even like the original. This girl though, makes everything in to beautiful electric My Little Pony disco, I just love her tracks. my favourite banging trasher from France, Simon DeLacroix aka The Toxic Avenger has been silent with releases for some time now. Things are going good for him though, he’s busy touring and he listens a lot to the new Morrissey album. I found this minimix dj set on some MTV brazil site, so I couldn’t really tell what the post was about but this mix was enough to cheer me up. Really nice tracklist, 37 minutes long and worth every second of your attention. Play it loud and pay Toxie a visit on myspace.

everybody unfold your electro chart, look up Scandinavia, beneath greenland you will find a smaler island, a very beautiful country I must say, that’s right. Iceland. Make sure you mark it, cause Jungle Fiction just brought the noise, and it sounds good. My whole electronic journey actually started by discovering Icelandic electronic gods múm in 2000. This time it’s a bit heavier.Jungle Fiction made me drop my mouth about an hour ago. I was listening to ‘8bit De La Mort” on their myspace. It is brutal, that’s all I have to say. My favourite track of 2009 so far. Icelandic electro with angry jungle fever french guy that will murder you with his rap. I just love the sound of it. Drop this on the dance floor and see what happens.

We hear the sound of the 80s, the sound of video games and action movies from the golden era. Influences from great producers like Danger, kavinsky and Daft Punk. Mix all that together and taste it in your head. It sounds sweet doesn’t it? Jungle Fiction consists of three 17 year old guys. Sigurþór Sævarsson, Benedikt Örn and Benedikt Atli , all I have to say is thank you, and keep on bringing these killer tracks. I fucking love it.

My friend Jan @ Danger! Danger! told me weeks ago that I had to listen to Fare Soldi, he was like in love or something. So he sent me the tracks, and I was like yeah I’ll have a listen. maybe you noticed I posted two Public remixes the other day. Here’s the thing, Nick sent me an email last week saying he liked my blog and sent me some tracks. I wanna thank him for doing that, cause now I have another favourite producer in the disco/electro house category. Can’t believe how he somehow slipped by me. Nevermind. I’ve been planning a post about him for a week now. Yesterday he sent me the brand new track ‘Bodymotion’ and that was it, had to get out of my lazyness and throw it up. I wish ‘Bodymotion’ would have come with one of those bodyworkout instruction videos, cause the track makes you wanna work up a sweat. It is simplicity itself, but it has that melody that will stick to your head. The wonderful piano and the beat that says, get up, get up, dance! Gooood! So let me tell you a little about this guy, he’s from California and was born with a disco ball for a face, well, Public was anyway. Nick likes retro, electro, ghetto house and techno. You can tell, cause he fits all these categories in his tracks. While ‘Bodymotion’ is kinda funky, these next tracks are more electro, more ghetto. ‘Medicine Teeth’ is chopped up samplings and driving electro, it’s one of those tracks I would like to hear live.

Were back to the funky theme with ‘Fit Girls’ , just brilliant, I love these synths. The track makes a turn in the middle though, and ends in heavy electro with some techno influences. Like I said, he really mixes it up, that’s why I like this guy. Public is not the average producer out there, he’s something more, something to really look out for. Make sure you listen to his remixes I posted in ‘Mixin’ it’, and visit his myspace and show him some love.

All the way from UK hails Nightbreaker and he has done something I thought was impossible: Remixing the song that got me to be the electrojunkie I am today, making it to something new and surprisingly also better than the original. I’m talking about Boys Noize track &Down.
It’s that kind of track that makes me feel when I hear it in any kind of situation “hang on, I’m just going to lose it all and dance like there’s no tomorrow” (Okey, maybe not at a funeral!).
