2009 July | Dödselectro - Part 2

From Toronto to Chicago, through various sources it’s time I present you to Bit Funk. This guy produces tracks so chill and beautiful, driving your emotions to their peak. Sunny beach melodies and fresh summery breezes with thrillin’ synths and dangerous basslines perfect for that LA night out soundtrack. Listening to ‘A Question For You I’ can’t help to think that we’re listening to the work of a genius that manages to produce a distant dreamy electronica soundscape _and_ make it club friendly. Brilliant.

Icelandic kids in Jungle Fiction featured on Dödselectro back in the days are presenting us with their take on Digitalfoxglove track ‘Remedy’. Since last time they have been doing a couple of gigs in their home country with Steed Lord among others, and continuing on the fierce jungle electro track, Iceland style, things should start to look up for these young producers soon. This remix with it’s slow-building-hit-you-in-the-face-bass and the dreamy haunting synths is an excelent track for all you fans of Danger and DatA.

Looking forward to hearing more originals from these guys, I mean.. ‘8-bit de la mort feat. Mokless’ is one of the sickest bangers I’ve heard. Befriend Jungle Fiction on myspace and make sure you don’t miss out.

German trio Beens has been going warm in my speakers ever since I first discovered them by one of my heroes Grum , he used their tracks Rotor and Rebels in his livesets. I got mighty excited yesterday when I checked my mailbox, quite overwhelming after I was back from my short vacation (*cough* Arvikafestivalen *cough*) and saw that they have contacted us about some new original tracks. I immediatly knew this was Dödselectro-material that you don’t want to miss!

To describe their sound, I just got one thing to say: Killer-basslines! I really mean it; KILLER-BASSLINES that will leave no one on a dancefloor standing still! Some of you might think I’m exaggerating a bit now, but I think they have surpassed Boys Noize level of making dancefloor trashers. Well, take a listen to these two originals, Drop That and a preview for Smash, and we will see if you agree with me or not.

Besides these two new tracks, they have also been kind to release two of their older tracks in high-quality! The remix for Amy Merediths Running which  I totally missed before, so it was a really pleasant surprise for me. Play them loud so that your whole neighbourhood can hear!

I must say I really like that I have been proven wrong from time to time about a statement I made when I first started to write here on this blog. I said I find Swedish musicians more and more boring for every year floating by. And since the birth of the blog, we have discovered a lot of very talented producers that just rocks our socks from our homecountry. And now I have found another one that just craves my and your attention: Calis!

Carl-Johan Hedlund has been maiking music since 2005. He used to produce Chip-music with Gameboys and have been playing together out with bands like Maskinoperatör. Now in the year of 2009, his music has taken another direction and I find it really close to Australian electro-sounds with the saw-basslines/leads. What more can I say? Oh right, I love it!

He only has this one track finished right now, but he told me that more are expected to pop up shortly (For example, a remix on Vektorkats Wyno!). Here’s Running Away for you all.

Vacation right now, I wont post as frequently as I am enjoying life for the next three weeks or so. Will manage to sqeeze some nights in for quick posts though, like this one. Two Sidechains remixes that will make your summer even hotter. 1990 track ‘Naked In the Rain’ by Blue Pearl and ‘Say It’ by Booty Luv. Need i tell you that they’re both flawless masterpieces that rock, in other words typical Sidechains productions. The arpeggio synths in ‘Say It’ are some of the most wonderful synths I heard in my life.

Should you want house music all night long, you can listen to more tracks at his myspace. You can download a remix album for free, and buy his monster house ep and drop him a line or two. Me, I’ll just have another beer since that seems to be the only thing that actually cools me down.
