MIGHT might be one of the coolest dudes I’ve met in recent times, and it’s a pleasure to share his music with all of you who’ve yet to hear it. From Huntington Beach, California, MIGHT delivers a sound that’s got a perfect taste of that hard electric funk, especially on his remix of Silvouplay’s “Nod Your Fucking Head”, which will certainly have you doing exactly what the title so subtly describes. And then, on tracks like “Stomping Grounds” and “Ninth Hour Girls”, MIGHT brings a fresh disco sound with super clean filtering and awesome, Phantom-like hat work that is simply irrisistible.
First, here’s MIGHT’s “Nod Your Fucking Head” remix:

Last year, Le Babar was featured here on the blog in anticipation of his first EP, No Sleep. Le Babar is from Belgium and takes his name from the famous elephant in the French cartoon. He grew up listening to a lot of 90’s house music and later found that the tracks he loved were mostly loops ripped from disco and funk 12″ with a big round kick drum underneath, which sounds easy, but isn’t. Now he is part of the Mozzarella Recordings family, along with our mate La Zebra, and will soon release a track on 17:44 Records.
Here is “Feeling It” from the No Sleep EP:

Finally, here is “Up da Phunk” off the Mozzarella Recordings compilation entitled Used Mp3 Outlet, which is one of the best compilations to come out this summer with big tracks from talents like Leonardus, Kamei, Magna, and Funkabit:

After two years of waiting, Don Rimini’s latest EP have been released for the masses. Nlarge Your Parties is the tiltle and god damn how good it is. I find myself that all the tracks are really good, but if I have to chose one then I would go for All About. Just because it’s such a simple but effective track, especially when the voice-sample kicks in! So I found it good that I have permission to share this one with you.

In exactly one week, me and Tobias will be arriving to one of the biggest highlights in Sweden: Arvikafestivalen. This will be my eighth time there and the first for Tobias, and man we are going to have such a blast! Besides meeting a lot of new people & old friends, drinking way to much beer and sleeping in a fancy tent, we will have the chance to see many producers kicking ass live. I have made a small top five list over shows you simply cannot miss if you plan spending your next week in Arvika. And of course I’m including some tracks and one livemix to download for your boombox.
1. Danger: Simply put; it is pure stupidity if you decide to skip this man live! This is the highlight of the festival! [Myspace] [Facebook] [Plays live Saturday 02.30 @ Orion-stage]

2. Simian Mobile Disco: Even if I haven’t been diggin’ their latest releases, I’m looking forward a lot to catch them live. There are two good reasons for that; one is that that their debut-album had a huge effect on me. And secondly, for the first time they will perform fully live. No CDJ’s or laptop-dj’ing, just purely machines and synths! [Myspace] [Facebook] [Plays live Saturday 01.00 @ Apollo-stage]

3. Louis La Roche: Thanks to our friends in TajT, as a Sweden firts we’ll be able to see the UK wonderboy Louis La Roche perform. And man, it’s going to swell! If you haven’t heard him, look up his track Malfunction hear what tuuuune it is. And check his latest track he made together with Ad-Apt, it’s amazing as well! 4. The Twelves: The Brazilian disco-duo are also a must for this festival. With a bag filled with remixes they have done for all the biggest, spicing them with disco and cowbells, they will most certainly not leav a single soul standing still. The people of Stockholm should know this since they played earlier in May as this years Slammer Act for Arvikafestivalen. We couldn’t attend at that event, but now hell yeah we will! [Myspace] [Facebook] [Plays live Friday 23.30 @ Orion-stage]

5. Owl Vision: Last to make it to this toplist is Gothenburgs pride Owl Vision. It’s actually thanks to Arvikafestivalen I got to know his music, since he won a competition a couple of years ago and won stagetime there. But since he got to play at the start of the day and I was at my camp with a huge hungover, I missed him out. But this time I won’t! Fresh out of the oven, we bring you his latest track Antichrist (sorry, no download!). [Myspace] [Facebook] [Plays live Friday 21.30 @ Orion Stage]
Check Arvikafestivalens homepage for a full line-up, there are a lot more good artists/bands/producers to be seen there than just these five. But if you plan on going there and haven’t bought your ticket yet, then we suggest you get a move on it since there aren’t many tickets left at this stage.
Hope to see you all there in week!
The exuberantly promising Icelandic youngsters from Jungle Fiction have been quite busy recently, churning out 2 remixes for Acid Washed and Bloc Party front man Kele. Building on their gained experience over the past year, Jungle Fictions tracks are increasingly becoming more complex (in a good way), better mixed and overall better produced. So I hope you are as psyched as I am that they are releasing their first EP, “Heat of the Nite” in the coming months, featuring remixes by FUKKK OFF and F.O.O.L. “Heat of the Nite” is packing some serious dancefloor heat. During late nights of partying recently I have found myself greatly compelled to listen it and dance into the night! So go on, grab a free download, check out their facebook and soundcloud pages, assume a crouching tiger position and wait eagerly for “Heat of The Nite” to drop!
Bonus: Added JF´s remix of Feldberg - Dreamin’, smokin hot.
