2010 September | Dödselectro - Part 2

Anoraak’s debut album ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’ was released yesterday, I suggest you go and buy that one. You don’t say no to 12 Anoraak songs to wind down to, and dream of sunny beaches, neon lights and palms dancing to the ocean breeze. ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ is a collaboration with Sally Shapiro. It’s included on the album but I’ve got the alternative version for you to download for free!

The typical Anoraak guitars and synth sounds together with these dreamy vocals was just what I needed in dark autumn times like these, when getting out of bed in the morning seems like an impossible thing. As a bonus, Sally Shapiro wanted you to have the Tesla Boy remix of their song ‘Miracle’ as well, there’s nothing like chicks singing in french I tell you.

I remember Electric Youth from back when I started this blog. When the whole Valerie 80s wave was the big hype out there. Most of the acts from that time disappeared in some void of one hit wonders, except for Anoraak and Minitel Rose. Those two acts are still going strong, and having heard the collab of Grum and Electric Youth on the track ‘Turn It Up’ which is one of the strongest tracks on the album I’m really happy to see a new demo from these guys on the email!

Grum - Turn It Up (Stream only, buy through Itunes)

Fast paced electric disco from the lovin’ glory days of the 80s in ‘Right Back To You’ is just what I need to get that hype going again. Austin and Bronwyn that are Electric Youth just brought the love , and I hope these guys are here to stay. Following their every move and so should you! Befriend them on their myspace.

I bet you have no clue how happy I am now that I can announce that Revolte is finally back on track after such a long time. Since somewhere around year 2008 shortly after they collaborated with the lovely singer Wonder and made the amazing track Les Mecs Kleenex, they just vanished from the scene leaving us with no clue what happened with them. Months went by and I was wondering what was going on, and then last night, I had some really dumb luck on Facebook and found Arnauds profile who happened to be the second half of Revolte. And he was happy to inform me that they are soon to return with a full-lenght album. Seriously people, I was crying tears of joy when recieving the news. To get you teased, Mac Stanton of So French Records decided to tribute them and remixed their classic track Guess What which just takes it to new heights.

Here’s an absolutely belting track that’s just hit our inbox! It come’s from 26 year old dj and producer I Never Dance. Starting his production career as an engineer to well known producer Graziano Ravenna, I Never Dance has decided to make his own mark on the indie dance scene. The self titled track is a peak time monster, the production is spot on with the bassline and vox being particularly catchy. This will definately be a mainstay in our sets and it drops on Instant Replay tomorrow so get it while it’s hot!!

The second single taken from Grum’s magnificent album will be released on october 4th. Now I’m convinced to say that ‘Throught the Night’ is definitely both single, and video of the year. The combo of swirling 80s electro synths and the bromance of two cops like in any classic action movie from the same decade is just genius. Watch the video here, hear out all the remixes down below, including the club remix, and takes from Bit Funk and The Swiss amongst others. Grab two freebies in form of the Beaumont and Perseus remixes.

Last week we gave you the Danger remix of ‘In For The Kill’ and now it’s Ishivu’s time to step up. Trust me this guy is making big moves with this one, simply put, this version is amazing. It didn’t make it to the release, but if I was running the label, I guarantee that I would’ve chosen this one over Danger’s.

The layering of synths together with these beats is fucking talent. Take it away Ishivu, the future is yours!

You have no idea how honored I feel over presenting you the latest installment in the mixtape-series by one of my personal favourites: The Phantom’s Revenge. I probably have heard everything he has produced so far (including his previous mixtapes), and I basicly love all of them. So you can guess that I was dancing with joy when he agreed to do one for us. For 77 minutes, this mix will put everything you do on hold so you can focus on one thing only: Dance!
