You guys remember Blunt B? The Brisbane glitch-hop producer that blew our minds with his “Get Off The Chemicals” single? Check here if you missed it. Today we’re back with an interview and a brand new heater called “Vacuum Sealed Funk“. His shit amazes me. It’s like Feed Me except maybe a little more for us 90s hip-hop kids. Best part is it’s a FREE DOWNLOAD!

DE (HOUDINI): Tell us about Blunt B the project and who you are as an individual. What’s a day in the life like?

Blunt B: The Blunt B project started a four years ago when I was 15, I wanted to produce quality material after djing for a few years. Since then it has developed into so much more than just djing, everything you hear in my tracks are completely original raw sounds, and is all played live on keyboards, samplers, analog synths the lot. After playing my live show for the first time i noticed the audience react in a completely different way to someone just djing, they love seeing how its all put together. A day in the life is still reasonably basic, just a regular working dude by day, and then with any chance i can get, you’ll find me in my lab creating, remixing and tweaking whatever sounds i can get my hands on.

Who are your biggest influences as an artist?

Daft Punk, for me they really nailed it. They changed the dance music scene forever, with their mean but clean melodies and funky basslines. Pretty Lights are also a huge inspiration, after seeing him play live my obsession with glitchy, fat and funky beats became more evident.

What’s it like being musicians on the grind in Brisbane?

Brisbane is great! the electronic music scene is absolutely raging at the moment. So many of my supporters are from here, and having Bedlam Records behind me is definitely a massive plus.

What’s the next step for you? More releases? Touring? Videos?

Well at the moment I’m working on a heap of new original tunes, remixes and an EP release, as well as practicing for upcoming live shows around Brisbane. We haven’t quite hit the stage of deciding on touring yet, but with the new live show its definitely on the cards. Expect more videos.

What’s the craziest show you’ve played? Tell us about some of the weirdest, coolest, funniest things you’ve seen in the business.

Im still really new to the business but so far the craziest shows I played are the old high school parties I use to dj at when i was younger. With so many blind drunk teenagers in one place, there was always something hectic going on. The coolest would have to be the most recent supporting Cutline from the UK, I debuted my live show and the crowd was just jumping the whole time!
