I first got in contact with Defeat from Perth, Australia almost a year ago when this blog was brand new. It is a mystery even to me that I haven’t featured his tracks earlier. Good thing is I’ve been getting to follow this guy evolve, and now, Defeat has truly come up with his own distinct sound that has that edge to it. Rolling with the likes of Redial and Danger, Defeat makes driving distorted melody based electro tracks with a lot of retro influences. There are a lot of 16-bit games I used to play for the SNES that pops up in my head and gets me all nostalgic when listening. Here’s two of my favourite moments of Defeat, ‘Dance’ and ‘UNBRKBL’.
