Dödselectro crew were at Arvikafestivalen tearing it up. We saw EPIC shows from Danger, Chromeo, The Twelves, Simian Mobile Disco, Boy 8-Bit and Teddybears amongst others. But I think we only need these live clips from Dangers show and a short interview about new remixes, favourite movies, amiga and the future to sum up what turned out to be an awesome festival. Sound quality is bad, I was standing right by the monitor but hey, at least you get the feeling. In the beginning you can hear me bitching with the security guard. Doesn’t get any better than this. DE: Welcome to Sweden and thanks for an fantastic show!
DA: Thank you, it was fun, crazy crowd!
DE: The intro, you played two tracks that are still unreleased. Any chance their from a future release?

DA: They are kinda new, but they are more like soundtrack style tracks.
DE: You mean like only for live shows? Like starters?
DA: Yeah, more soundtrack. (red. notes: my hunch is that they are actual soundtrack material for something.) They wont be released.

DE: Ok, so there’s been a lot of touring now, where are you going next?
DA: We just did MELT festival in Germany and now this, now I’m just going home to France to relax and just work. With all these live shows you never have the chance to finish anything so it’s going to be nice.

DE: Then the question I think everybody want’s an answer to, when is the next ep and album coming out?

DA: Right now I’ve just finished remixes for La Roux and Acid Washed, and I’m working on a remix for Nero do you know them?
DE: I dunno I know a french rapper called Nero?

DA: No, These guys are dubstep. Anyway they’ll be out in a while. I’m also working on my new ep, and the album. Like I said, It’s so hard to find time to work, most of my releases takes 3-4 years to finish. But the album will be out next year. I’m also working on a new live show, and it’s gonna be huge!

DE: Arena style live show with fire and stuff?
DA: I can tell you it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen…
DE: Sounds cool! Can’t wait. Let’s talk about your music a little and the amiga influences, cause I notice a lot of Shadow of The Beast influenced sounds in your tracks, especially 19h11.

DA: Yeah I’m an amiga guy, I love Shadow of The Beast and it has been a big influence, I have many tracks just laying around that has that vibe. But they are just for personal use haha, they are a little too Shadow of The Beast.

DE: Oh really? I’d like to get my hands on those, so which is your favourite amiga game?
DA: I think Gym Power (red. notes. I think that’s what he said but can’t find anything about it) do you know it?

DE: Nah I don’t think so? Gym Power?
DA: Yeah, I think that’s my favourite, what’s yours?
DE: Mine? Shadow of The Beast.
DA: Really? haha, that’s good.
DE: So, your visuals then, a lot of Anime and Action packed 80’s scenes! You like anime a lot huh?

DA: Yeah I love anime, favourites are Akira and Ghost In the Shell. I’m actually working on an anime, making the soundtrack for it.

DE: Really? What kind of Animé?
DA: It’s a movie, all about storytelling and feeling. But this is the future, like I said, maybe 3-4 years.
DE: Nice. Tell me, what is it with the Danger / Arnold Schwarzenegger combo?! Meant to be!

DA: I love Terminator and Predator, some of my favourite movies. Did you know they are making a remake of Predator?

DE: Whaaat? Didn’t have a clue, it’s coming out soon?
DA: Yeah, it’s probably gonna be shit.
DE: Yeah probably.
DA: I can recommend a movie called Inception, you know the guy who made Dark Knight? Yeah it’s his new movie it’s really really good.

DE: We have to check it out! And btw I was the one who made the Terminator bostleg.

DA: Really?! It was you? It is the best man, fits so good together with the track (red. notes. Had to get some recognition from the man himself)

DE: Haha thanks man, and thanks for the show, the beer and this interview. It was a blast. We’re looking forward to the album and the new live show. Have a nice trip back to France.

For some time I have been receiving a couple of Justin Faust remixes that I have wanted to blog so badly. But of course, without any authorization to do so it’s kinda hard to it. So just when I was wondering when I would get something by him with permission to send, we recieved this mail this morning:

First out in this post is familiar face and that’s Lebatman. He just recently released a remix-pack, which is free to download. It contains nine remixes which are both new old tracks. My favourite in that pack which I am going to share here is Coal Stairs Fuji 111 (took some time though to decide a favourite, since they all are so equal in quality). Next two people to be introduced here are totally new to the blog. First of…. ..we have Drame, a French guy who can like most other french producers make sweet well-produced disco. When I heard his track Golden Gloves which I am sharing below, I was wondering why haven’t heard it earlier since it’s so good. Apparently, it’s been only been blogged once earlier on a small french blog. So I think it’s time we create a bigger buzz for this fellah. Trust me, you will thank me afterwards!

Last out we have Kartell, who instantly blew me away with his chilled out track La Jeunesse Retrouvée. Seriously, this is tune that you should bring to the beach when you are working on that suntan or when you want some chilltime anywhere. It comes together with a sweet vintage music-video, to give you some other good ideas where it fits for the perfect soundtrack.

I don’t need to say a damn thing here, really. Cut Copy has finished recording their new, as-yet-untitled, 3rd Album, which they will mix with Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective) in Atlanta in August. In celebration of all this, the band has made a brand new song, “Where I’m Going,” available for the price of an email address. Go to their website (www.cutcopy.net), click the “Download A New Cut Copy Song” link, and you’re away. If you want it on vinyl, it will be released as a strictly limited, one-sided etched 7″ in August.

The tribal pound of “Where I’m Going,” described by the band as “the kind of track Brian Wilson would’ve written if he took ecstasy and hung out in 60’s London instead of California,” will fit perfectly in either a large field or a dark club, and the guys are looking forward to sharing a good old chant with all of you.

MIGHT might be one of the coolest dudes I’ve met in recent times, and it’s a pleasure to share his music with all of you who’ve yet to hear it. From Huntington Beach, California, MIGHT delivers a sound that’s got a perfect taste of that hard electric funk, especially on his remix of Silvouplay’s “Nod Your Fucking Head”, which will certainly have you doing exactly what the title so subtly describes. And then, on tracks like “Stomping Grounds” and “Ninth Hour Girls”, MIGHT brings a fresh disco sound with super clean filtering and awesome, Phantom-like hat work that is simply irrisistible.
