I’ve been meaning to do this post for quite some time now, ever since I first stumbled upon Parallels on last.fm about two years ago. Ever since, I’ve been in love. And I’m not the only one, aleks over at discodust has been keeping us updated with news and fresh mp3s when nobody else has. However, today I got an email from Marigold, seems to be a sign to finally bring Parallels to Dödselectro.
Canadian Cam Findlay started Parallels as a solo project, when not live drumming for Crystal Castles he was working on his own tracks. I’m glad he did cause the Parallels soundscapes are some of the most original I’ve heard, synths and melodies that weren’t crafted on this planet, driven by fierce arpeggios that sound like they were made in the astronauts seat at the moment of lift off.
Later on Cam got support from, I guess you could call it the missing link. Canadian female vocalist Holly Dodson. And with that, the Parallels we hear right here, today, was born. It was already good solo, but Holly made Parallels whole, with the addition of Joey Kehoe working the synthesizers.
Wired in parallel with another galaxy where an italo-space-disco journey awaits, the ride is electrically breathtaking.
