The M Machine – Metropolis pt II.

The M Machine, let me tell you, gives me hope again. The whole edm scene has something to learn from them. Already with part I in the metropolis series you could hear that these San francisco boys weren’t kidding around and with Metropolis part II, well. It’s my favorite release of the year so far.

It’s a variety of styles, an experience from beginning to end. It reminds of Foreigner, Ladytron and The Postal Service tangled up in a soundscape of beats that were created in the slums of Neo-Tokyo. It’s a masterpiece that focuses on feeling, a state of mind, rather than how to make that drop harder. This isn’t at all something you categorize as edm, no, don’t get me wrong, this is just electronic music. Danceable at times. And what lovely times.

Pick this EP on beatport. That is a recommendation

  1. “It’s a masterpiece that focuses on feeling, a state of mind…” – This is why I miss Danger and his contemporaries, I miss the peak of last decade, when that was the focus of most electronic music.

I dance harder to this than to dubstep; if I’m not drunk enough, dubstep makes me fall asleep, and I’m not kidding. I’ve left shows, because I’ve been bored to tears by wobbling goons; I’m not always gonna drop 20 bucks on booze to have a good time.
